Video blogging, or vlogging, is getting more and more popular. GameNetTV, a new video network built strictly for gamers, recently vlogged DMW's and the Deity Group's Art Download Party at the Venice Contemporary. Mr. Mike looked at the art, ate a turkey sandwich and hung out with "the cool kids".

Wired Readers Vote on Most Desired iPhone Software Hacks

San Francisco - Wired News on Friday published an interactive story listing prospective hacks that would improve the functionality of Apple's iPhone. The story allows users to submit, and vote on, the software functionality they would like see added to the iPhone by industrious hackers. The list includes a call recorder, instant messaging, MP3 ringtones, Skype, browser support for Java, Flash, stored passwords and RSS, and a "Paris Hilton News Blocker."

Warner Delays Release of Blu-ray/HD DVD Combo Format to 2008

Los Angeles - Warner Bros. has delayed the release of its combination Blu-ray/HD DVD disc format, Total HD, from late 2007 until early 2008, according to comments made this week by the studio's vice president of sales and planning Dan Miron, CNET News.com reported. Warner Bros. this week, adding that the company didn't want to create consumer confusion by adding a third format to retailers' shelves.

Comcast to Offer TiVo Software on Its Digital Video Recorders

Alviso, Calif. - TiVo said this week that Comcast, the nation's largest cable TV provider, has approved TiVo software for use on its Comcast digital video recorders. Comcast, which will begin testing the service in Boston in August, previously said that it would offer its customers the option of using TiVo's software for an additional fee.

Licensing Launched for Blu-ray Content Protection Technology BD+

Los Angeles - BD+ Technologies, the licensor of content protection technology for Sony's Blu-ray Disc standard, on Friday announced the completion of its licensing program. The "Virtual Machine-based" content protection has already been implemented into all Blu-ray Disc players in the marketplace, but updated technical specification are now available. "Fox has vigorously fought against piracy for years and the adoption of BD+ as part of the Blu-ray Disc specification, and an enhancement over and above AACS, was a key factor in our decision to publish on the format," said Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment president Mike Dunn.

Nokia Launches Mobile Phone Photo Printing Service Across Europe

Espoo, Finland - Nokia on Friday announced the launch of a mobile phone photo printing service in Europe, allowing customers to order high-quality prints directly from their phones and have them delivered to themselves or friends. Available in 24 countries -- including the U.K., France, Germany and Sweden -- initially to users of Nokia's Nseries devices, the photos will be printed by partner CeWe Color.

EMI Licenses DRM-Free MP3s for Sale on Snocap MyStores

London - Major record label EMI Music said on Friday that it has partnered with Snocap to allow for the sale of DRM-free MP3 tracks from EMI artists through artist websites, social networking pages and fan blogs. Songs will be made available for $1.30 from Snocap MyStores -- which are supported on the MySpace social network -- with albums to be added later this year.

Associated Press Says Online Video Network Reaches 61 Million

Washington - The Associated Press said this week that 85 more radio and 15 new television stations have added its Online Video Network and MSN player to their websites. The AP said that its network that airs video news reports now reaches 61 million unique visitors through over 1,800 affiliates.
