Burbank, Calif. - Disney's (NYSE: DIS) Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Group announced on Thursday that it has promoted Jason Brenek to the newly created position of SVP, worldwide digital cinema and cinema programming. Brenek will be responsible for developing and overseeing any non-movie content, including 3D or live events, delivered to theaters enabled by digital cinema, as well as setting the company's worldwide digital cinema strategy and negotiating deployment deals around the world. Las Vegas - Gracenote, a provider of music data services, said on Thursday that LG Electronics will be the first mobile partner to bundle its Mobile MusicID and two other services in its music-enabled handsets. The LG handsets will allow users to identify songs playing at a party, in the car or even at a club, using their phones. the world's biggest telecommunications companies. But he needs to brush
up on his American history. Accepting the Digital Patriot Award
from the Consumer Electronics Assn. last night, Seidenberg lauded the
"unprecedented" progress being made in the U.S. in building out
broadband networks, nearly all of it accomplished with private capital
investment. The only projects of comparable scope and speed, he
maintained, were construction of the Interstate Highway system and the
Apollo space program, "both of which required billions of dollars of
taxpayer money."
