Early Stones Albums Come to eMusic via Abkco Deal

New York - Digital music service eMusic has added 25 albums from the Rolling Stones, through a recently signed licensing deal with Abkco. The deal includes albums released between 1964 and 1970, such as "Let It Bleed" and "Beggars Banquet." Along with early Stones, the Abkco deal brings DRM-free tracks from Sam Cooke, the Animals, Marianne Faithful and others to eMusic subscribers.

Radiohead Launches Own Social Network

Los Angeles - Radiohead has launched its own social networking site, based from the same W.A.S.T.E. merchandise website that offered its "In Rainbows" album on a pay-what-you-want basis, Pitchfork Media reports. At launch, the W.A.S.T.E. Central site lets users create profiles, see who else is going to shows on the band's current tour, and view and upload photos and videos.

Rolling Stones Channel Premieres on YouTube

London - Universal Music Group has launched a new Rolling Stones channel on Google's YouTube, that lets fans upload videos of themselves posting questions to the band, with the band to respond personally to some of them, Reuters reported. The new channel will mainly promote "Shine a Light," the new Stones documentary from director Martin Scorsese.

Amazon.com Relaunches Latin Music Store

Seattle - Amazon.com on Friday announced the relaunch of its Latin Music Store, which counts nearly 140,000 albums spanning 28 separate genres of Latin music.

Nickelodeon to Develop Additional Virtual Worlds for Kids

New York - Viacom's (NYSE: VIA) Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group announced on Friday that it plans to launch a number of additional virtual worlds for kids, building on the success of its existing Neopets and Nicktropolis sites. The company said it will develop virtual worlds for "SpongeBob SquarePants," "Monkey World" and "World of Neopia."

Verizon Wireless Will Use Auctioned Spectrum for Broadband

Basking Ridge, N.J. - Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ) announced on Friday that the spectrum it paid $9.36 billion for in the Federal Communication Commission's (FCC) recent 700 MHz auction is "a critical piece of its overall broadband strategy to take advantage of the enormous opportunity for growth in data services in the future."

Fox Interactive Media Reorganizes, Launches New Ad Unit

Los Angeles - News Corp.'s (NYSE: NWS) Fox Interactive Media unit, which houses MySpace, IGN, Photobucket and other Web entertainment properties, this week announced a restructuring that saw the departure of chief revenue officer Michael Barrett, and the launch of a new Audience Network for its ad technology, to be headed up by Adam Bain. The moves come as Fox Interactive Media is expected to fall short of its $1 billion revenue target for its fiscal year ended June 30, TechCrunch reported, citing multiple unnamed sources.
