San Diego - Slacker, the maker of a portable music player and corresponding radio service, announced on Tuesday that it has signed agreements with EMI Music Publishing, Sony/ATV Music Publishing (NYSE: SNE), Universal Music Publishing Group and Warner/Chappell Music (NYSE: WMG), which will allow users to transfer songs from its online radio service to Slacker portable players. The company said the deals were completed before it launched its Slacker Portable hit the market in November. Slacker lets users create interactive radio stations; songs from the stations are then periodically updated on the portable player. A premium version that allows users to permanently store songs is also available starting at $7.50 per month.

Los Angeles - Perry Farrell, the former Jane's Addiction frontman who also created the Lollapalooza music festival, said that this year's event in Chicago will feature recordings of collaborations between various artists scheduled to perform at the festival, which will be sold on iTunes and then performed onstage during the event, MTV News reported. An Apple (NASD: AAPL) spokesperson told MTV that talks were underway, but nothing had been formalized. "We're going to have collaborations -- people collaborating on songs -- and then put them on iTunes, and then they'll perform them at Lollapalooza for a once-in-a-lifetime experience," Farrell told MTV News.

Los Angeles - Gemstar-TV Guide International (NASD: GMST), a provider of electronic program guides for digital TV services, announced on Tuesday that it has expanded its relationship with digital video recorder firm TiVo (NASD: TIVO). Under the terms, the companies entered into a new patent license agreement for retail products and certain service provider deployments of the TiVo service in international markets. "International interest in TiVo is at an all time high as retailers and service providers globally seek to deliver the TiVo service as a way to differentiate their video products," said Joshua Danovitz, VP and GM of International at TiVo.

Dulles, Va. - AOL (NYSE: TWX) said on Tuesday that it will begin offering short-form online video content from Disney's (NYSE: DIS) ESPN.com through its AOL Video and AOL Sports sites, marking the first time ESPN has syndicated its content through an Internet portal. Through the deal, ESPN will offer highlights from games and major sporting events, as well as video clips from its original programming, through an embedded video player.

Columbia, Md. - iBiquity Digital, the developer of HD Radio technology that lets radio stations transmit a digital signal alongside their analog signals, has announced the availability of the first HD Radio receivers to support "iTunes Tagging," which allow users to tag songs they hear on the air for later purchase from Apple's (NASD: AAPL) iTunes Store. The Polk Audio I-Sonic Entertainment System 2 is available from today at Apple Stores and on Apple.com, and will also be sold at Best Buy this summer. Alpine, JBL and Sony have also announced that they will incorporate the technology in upcoming radios.

Amsterdam - Nokia (NYSE: NOK) on Tuesday announced the launch of a version of its Nokia Music Store in the Netherlands. Users can pay 1 euro per track or 10 euros per album for DRM-protected downloads that can be transferred between a PC and their Nokia devices, or subscribe to a PC streaming service for 10 euros per month. Nokia has also launched versions of its Nokia Music Store in the U.K., Germany, Finland, Ireland and Italy, and says it will expand to additional countries throughout the year.

Biarritz, France - iKlax Media on Tuesday announced the development of a new interactive audio format, iKlax, which enables listeners to select among the various tracks in a particular recording for listening. Artists can use iKlax Creator to create multi-track versions of their songs that listeners can then manipulate and listen to different versions. The creators said that their temporarily free software has been downloaded 10,000 times in the past two weeks, adding that 500 artists have downloaded iKlax Creator.

San Mateo, Calif. - Engage said on Tuesday that it has emerged from beta testing and publicly launched its social dating community site. The company said that its site is the first to combine social networking principles with established online dating tools. Features include a social feed, which lets users know the activities of others in their online community; a tool that allows users to vote on the best options for singles on the site; and the ability to earn "social points" for things like making introductions and or casting votes.

Deerfield Beach, Fla. - Video game and entertainment ad network Intergi said on Tuesday that it has signed an agreement to supply advertising placement for K2 Network, which serves over 16 million gamers in over 100 countries. K2 operates multiplayer online games including "War Rock," "Knight Online," "Global MU Online" and "Sword of the New World."

Los Angeles - Apple's (NASD: AAPL) iTunes Store in Canada has removed several songs by Jamaican dancehall artists from its catalog, after complaints about lyrics that advocate the killing of gay people were raised by LGBT groups Egale Canada and Stop Murder Music, Xtra.ca reported.

New York - Online social network Facebook is finalizing the settlement of several lawsuits with ConnectU, whose founders claim that Facebook head Mark Zuckerberg stole their idea for a company when they were all Harvard undergraduates, The New York Times reported. Citing a person briefed on the status of the lawsuits, The Times reports that all motions in Facebook's countersuit against ConnectU, which claim unfair business practices, have been terminated, while motions to dismiss all of the pending litigation between the companies are expected to be filed "within weeks."

Miami - News Corp.'s (NYSE: NWS) MySpace online social network on Tuesday announced the official launch of its MySpace Latino destination, which features culturally relevant content from partners including ImpreMedia, Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS), Billboard en Espanol and Remezcla.com.

Burlingame, Calif. - MeeVee, a provider of personalized TV listings and online video, announced on Tuesday that it is "engaged in multiple discussions with potential acquirers," having determined that "combining with an established player will maximize the potential for the community, technology and content relationships the company has built."

Los Angeles - News Corp.'s (NYSE: NWS) FOX Networks, the company's international ad network, announced on Tuesday that it has acquired a majority stake in Utarget, a European ad network that specializes in online video and counts over 600 U.K. websites among its members.

Fort Mill, S.C. - Muzak and DMX, two providers of business music and media services, announced on Tuesday that they have received word that Justice Department's antitrust division has approved their proposal to merge and sell the combined company to a third party.

New York - Sellaband, a Netherlands-based company that helps bands raise funds for recording by enabling fans to contribute online, has raised $5 million in new financing from Prime Technology Ventures.

Mishawaka, Ind. - Better World Books, an online bookseller that collects donated books and sells them online to fund literacy initiatives worldwide, has raised $4.5 million in its first round of funding, led by Good Capital, whose Social Enterprise Expansion Fund provides funds to businesses that deploy market-based solutions focused on poverty alleviation, healthcare and education.

San Francisco - Richrelevance, a provider of personalized recommendations for e-commerce businesses, announced on Tuesday that it has raised a $4.2 million second round of venture capital financing, from Greylock Partners and Tugboat Ventures.
