Hip-Hop Artist T-Pain Launches Nappy Boy Digital Label

Atlanta - Hip-hop producer and artist T-Pain has announced the launch of his own full-service, independent digital record label, Nappy Boy Digital. T-Pain will release both his own tracks and those of others to digital retailers via Nappy Boy Digital. The label's first release will be "Beam Me Up," a track from collaborator Tay Dizm that was produced by Bangladesh and features T-Pain and Rick Ross. To date, T-Pain has sold more than 15 million ringtones, while the single "Buy U A Drank" off his last record sold 1.5 million downloads.

AOL Launches Retooled Radio Service Powered by CBS

New York - AOL (NYSE: TWX) on Tuesday launched its new AOL Radio service, which is now powered by CBS (NYSE: CBS) and will feature 150 local CBS Radio stations alongside more than 200 AOL Radio channels. CBS Radio will also sell advertising across the entire service, which will let users skip songs, and share streams with AIM users. The deal with CBS replaces AOL's previous partner, XM Satellite Radio. AOL also plans to release downloadable versions of AOL Radio for Winamp and the Mac in the coming weeks, and is working on widgets that will let users access stations directly third-party applications.

JetBlue's LiveTV Unit Acquires Verizon Airfone Network

Melbourne, Fla. - LiveTV, the unit of JetBlue that provides in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems for commercial airlines, announced today it has reached an agreement to purchase the Verizon Airfone network, for an undisclosed price. LiveTV said the move "will anchor the company's in-flight email and messaging platform." To develop and launch its "Kiteline service," LiveTV purchased 1 MHz of air-to-ground spectrum from the FCC in June 2006, and in December 2007 launched an email and messaging service.

Former PC World Editor to Launch Technologizer Blog

Sausalito, Calif. - Former PC World editor-in-chief Harry McCracken on Tuesday announced plans to launch Technologizer, a new independent technology news blog that will be part of online ad network Federated Media Publishing, also home to TechCrunch and GigaOm. FM will also help develop the site in partnership with McCracken, as it did for previous clients WebbAlert and Boing Boing Gadgets.

Sony to Bundle 7digital Download Vouchers with Walkmans

London - Sony United Kingdom on Tuesday announced a marketing partnership with digital music and video store 7digital.com, which will see voucher cards for free downloads from 7digital bundled with Sony Walkman Wirefree portable media players sold through Argos stores in the U.K. and Ireland. 7digital offers a library of DRM-free music videos that can be played on most portable players, including the Walkman.

RadioShack Teams with Libraries on DTV Transition Campaign

Fort Worth, Texas - Electronics retail chain RadioShack (NYSE: RSH) announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with the American Library Association (ALA) on a public education program about the upcoming digital TV transition. Under the deal, RadioShack's 4,500 company stores and many of its 1,000-plus franchises will offer knowledgeable employees to 16,000 ALA public libraries to host educational sessions for library patrons, to include instructions on how to apply for government coupons to put towards the purchase of digital TV adapters.

Gameloft Launches "Oregon Trail" Mobile Game

New York - Mobile game publisher Gameloft on Tuesday announced the launch of its re-make of the classic PC game "Oregon Trail" for mobile phones. The company partnered with licensor The Learning Company on the am, which features modernized graphics and other new features.

Verizon, Time Warner Cable, Sprint to Block Child Porn Sites

New York - Major Internet service providers Verizon (NYSE: VZ), Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC) and Sprint (NYSE: S) have agreed to block access to child pornography by eliminating access to child porn newsgroups, and purging their servers of any child porn websites, New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo announced on Tuesday. The companies will also collectively pay $1.1 million to fund additional efforts by the AG's office and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to remove child pornography from the Internet.

XM Settles Suit with EMI Over Radio with Recording Features

SanDisk Acquires Wi-Fi MP3 Player Maker MusicGremlin

Milpitas, Calif. - SanDisk (NASD: SNDK), a maker of MP3 players and flash storage media, announced on Tuesday that it has acquired MusicGremlin, the maker of a Wi-Fi-enabled digital audio player. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Founded in 2003, New York-based MusicGremlin's eponymous device was one of the first to allow music direct music downloads over a Wi-Fi connection without the need of a computer.

Cisco Acquires Video Management Firm DiviTech
