Apple to Launch iPhone 3G in Turkey Tomorrow

Istanbul - Turkish wireless network operator Turkcell will launch Apple's (NASD: AAPL) iPhone 3G in the country tomorrow, the company said on Thursday. The phone will be available to subscribers to opt for an 18-month service plan for free, depending on the plan, while the iPhone 3G will also be available without a contract for EUR129 ($189) per month, spread across five monthly installments.

Bloomberg TV to Make Ad Time Available via Google TV Ads

Mountain View, Calif. - Google (NASD: GOOG) said on Thursday that the New York-based Bloomberg Television network will make national cable advertising time in the U.S. available through the Google TV Ads platform. Google offers an auction-based pricing system, allowing advertisers to only pay for impressions delivered to their ads. Google's platform also counts NBC Universal and DISH Network among its clients.

Radiohead Offers Another "In Rainbows" Track for Remixing

Los Angeles - Following their successful remix contest with the song "Nude" off their recent "In Rainbows" record, the band has placed the underlying "stem" tracks for the song "Reckoner" for purchase on the iTunes Store. This time, instead of charging 99 cents for each individual stem, the band is offering all of the stems together as a 99-cent bundle, and eliminated the $5 fee for uploading remixes for voting on by the RadioheadRemix.com community. The band's merchandise company told Wired.com the remix page for the last contest got over 6 million unique visitors, who streamed 1.7 million tracks from the page. So far, over 200 remixes of "Reckoner" have been submitted.

MySpace Music Launched Before Deals With Indies Set

Los Angeles - News Corp.'s (NYSE: NWS) MySpace launched its new music service without having first secured deals with top independent labels such as Beggars Group, Domino and Koch, a move that Merlin, the independent rights body that represents them, called "incredibly disappointing." MySpace Music is a joint venture between the social network and major labels Warner Music, EMI, Universal Music and Sony BMG, and these labels and their artists will therefore share in the revenue generated by the service.

European Parliament Votes Against P2P "Three Strikes" Law

Brussels - The European Parliament has voted to prohibit member states from enacting "three-strikes" laws that disconnect the Internet accounts of repeat file-swappers, TorrentFreak reported.

Judge Declare Mistrial in Jammie Thomas File-Sharing Case

Duluth, Minn. - A federal judge in Minnesota yesterday declared a mistrial in the copyright infringement lawsuit that the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) brought against Jammie Thomas, the first American to be found guilty by a federal jury of illegal file-sharing, who was ordered to pay $222,000 the labels in damages. U.S. District Judge Michael Davis said he erred in his initial jury instructions, which stated that Thomas should be found guilty regardless of whether or not it was proven that anyone downloaded the songs offered from her Kazaa account.

In fact, I have previously said that I can literally feel myself getting dumber every moment that I am around a reality TV show that happens to be on. So you can imagine my chagrin at being forced to watch part of Dancing with the Stars last night because one of my wife's favourite actors was on (no, not Kim Kardashian - but you can't blame me for using her bio shot among all the participants).
