New York - Manny Anekal, Global Dir, In-Game Ad Ops, Electronic Arts (NASD: ERTS) spoke on a panel entitled "Games as a Marketing Tool - Connecting Brands with the Favorite Medium of the Millennial Generation" at the NY Games Conference last week. DMW caught up with him afterwards and talked about opportunities for advertisers and brands to reach consumers through games, virtual worlds and social networks. Mountain View, Calif. - In a statement that notes the company "[does] not generally take a position on issues outside of our field, especially not social issues," Google (NASD: GOOG) has taken an official stance opposing California's Proposition 8, which would eliminate the California Supreme Court-sanctioned right of same-sex couples to get married in the state. "It is the chilling and discriminatory effect of the proposition on many of our employees that brings Google to publicly oppose Proposition 8," Google co-founder and president Sergey Brin wrote in a post on the company's official blog. "While we respect the strongly-held beliefs that people have on both sides of this argument, we see this fundamentally as an issue of equality. Under the deal with Snyder's Cruel & Unusual Films, Snyder will lead creation direction of the games, while EA will own the intellectual properties and any franchises developed.
