Facebook Launches New Version of iPhone Application

Palo Alto, Calif. - The third iteration of Facebook's application for Apple's (NASD: AAPL) iPhone was launched late last week, and offers a major upgrade that implements previously missing features like Events. Users will also now see a grid that allows them to bookmark individual profiles or pages. CNET postulates that Facebook could create new API's that would allow Facebook application developers to beef up their apps within the new Facebook iPhone app.

Stockholm, Sweden - Potentially increasing doubts of his ability to close his company Global Gaming Factory's (GGF) deal to acquire file-sharing hub The Pirate Bay, Hans Pandeya saw his car and motorcycle repossessed this weekend after a tax debt of over $110,000 went unpaid, TorrentFreak reported. The company announced Thursday that shareholders had approved the Pirate Bay deal, through several investors had backed out -- leaving Pandeya to assert that he would help cover the acquisition cost with his own GGF shares.

SanDisk Introduces Sansa Clip+ MP3 Player

Milpitas, Calif. - SanDisk (NASD: SNDK), a maker of flash memory cards and MP3 players, on Monday introduced the Sansa Clip+ MP3 player, a smaller version intended to compete with Apple's iPod shuffle. The device comes in 2GB ($39), 4GB ($49) and 8GB ($69) capacities, and features a microSD expansion slot. It also supports SanDisk's slotRadio format.

Fox to Integrate Twitter Into Repeats of "Fringe," "Glee"

Los Angeles - News Corp.-owned (NYSE: NWS) Fox television plans to air reruns of its "Fringe" and "Glee" programs that integrate Twitter, in the form of tweets from cast and producers, who will also answer fans' questions, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The "tweet-peats" will see some of the tweets from TV viewers integrated live into the East and West Coast broadcasts.

Rhapsody, MTV to Host Preview of New Jay-Z Album

Seattle - RealNetworks (NASD: RNWK) and Viacom's (NYSE: VIA) MTV announced on Monday that their Rhapsody music service joint venture will exclusively preview Jay-Z's new album, "The Blueprint 3," for two weeks prior to its official release on Sept. 11. The preview stream will also be available from MTV's The Leak. Rhapsody will also be the exclusive retailer of the album from Sept. 8-10, and will host two exclusive bonus tracks

CBS Sports, Sports Illustrated to Share Print, Digital Content

New York - CBS-owned (NYSE: CBS) CBSSports.com and MaxPreps.com on Monday announced a partnership with The Sports Illustrated Group, that will see both parties share and distribute various digital and print assets. High school sports content from MaxPreps.com will now feature in SI.com's high school section. Several Sports Illustrated writers, including David Feherty and Seth Davis, will see their articles syndicated across CBSSports.com. SI.com will also promote live sports video featured on CBSSports.com.

LivingSocial Launches Group Coupon Program in NYC

Washington - LivingSocial, the developer of a social networking tool that lets users rank and share lists of their favorite things, said on Monday that it has launched a group couponing program in New York City. The program, known as LivingSocial Deals, offers one offer each day that lets users save at restaurants, spas and other local merchants. The offer is announced each morning through Facebook, Twitter and email, with coupons distributed once a sign-up quota is met. Offers are good until midnight of that day.

Rockstar Plans "Grand Theft Auto," "Beaterator" iPhone Games

New York - Video game publisher Take-Two Interactive's (NASD: TTWO) Rockstar Games on Monday announced plans to release two new iPhone games in the fall, "Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars" and "Beaterator." The latter game, also in development for the Sony PSP, is a music-making application that includes thousands of loops and sounds created by hip-hop producer Timbaland.

Washington - The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) plans to consider implementing a single ratings system that would cover content on TV, in video games and on mobile phones. The agency delivered a report on media blocking and parental ratings today, in which it announced plans to begin the inquiry.

Swedish Anti-piracy Bust Nets Server with 10,000 Movies

Stockholm, Sweden - A 33-year-old Swedish man was arrested and charged with copyright infringement, after a raid on his residence found a server housing 10,000 movies, or 88 terabytes of data, TorrentFreak reported. The raid was carried out based on a tip from Swedish anti-piracy agency Antipiratbyran. The man reportedly told authorities he believed there were only games residing on the server.

New York - Facebook plans to test its new "credits" payment platform with a number of nonprofit groups, who will be able to offer fans the ability to purchase and give charity gifts, CNET News.com reported. Facebook's Randi Zuckerberg -- sister of founder Mark Zuckerberg -- made the announcement on Friday at Mashable's Social Good Conference. Project Red, Kiva, Toms Shoes and the World Wildlife Fund will be the first to experiment with the charity gifts.
