Fox Interactive Media Renamed News Corp. Digital Media

Los Angeles - News Corp.'s (NYSE: NWS) Fox Interactive Media, the unit that includes properties such as MySpace, IGN and Photobucket, has been renamed News Corp. Digital Media. The group also announced a number of management changes, with Dan Fawcett named general counsel and EVP of business affairs; Jack Kennedy named EVP of operations; Jorge Espinel named EVP of strategy and corporate development; and Hemanshu Nigam named SVP of safety, security and privacy. The group also said that Roy Bahat was promoted to president of IGN Entertainment.

Federated Media Names Deanna Brown as President and COO

San Francisco - Federated Media Publishing (FM), a San Francisco-based digital media firm that helps companies market their brands through websites, blogs and social networking applications, has named Deanna Brown as its president and COO. Brown most recently served as the president at Scripps Networks Digital, and previously held vice president and general manager titles at Yahoo and AOL. FM's clients include American Express, Intel, BMW, HP, Microsoft, RadioShack and JCPenney.

mSpot Debuts Full-Length Streaming Movies to Mobile

Palo Alto, Calif. - Mobile entertainment distributor mSpot on Wednesday launched mSpot Mobile Movies, a service that streams full-length movies to "dozens" of mobile phones from U.S. carriers. Consumers can charge the $4.99 rental fee to their credit cards, and then stream movies from partners including Paramount Studios and Universal Studios Home Entertainment to an iPhone or other supported device. Initial titles include "The Reader" and "The Fast and the Furious."

Blog Network Buzzmedia Launches Talent Services Division

Los Angeles - Buzzmedia, a network of pop culture websites that includes Stereogum, Idolator, JustJared and Buzznet, on Wednesday launched a new talent services division, which aims to "identify unique online programming opportunities for musicians and celebrities to work with major advertisers." Buzzmedia already manages websites on behalf of celebrities including Britney Spears, Nicole Richie and several Kardashians. The company said it has already facilitated campaigns between Whitney Port and JCPenney, and the Kardashians and IKEA.

Wolfgang's Vault to Expand Concert Download Catalog

San Francisco - Wolfgang's Vault, a site that sells vintage recordings and rock memorabilia, plans to boost its catalog from 500 to 1,500 concert recordings available for purchase next month, Billboard reported. On deck include more than 160 Grateful Dead shows, as well as performances from Santana, Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, Miles Davis, Dolly Parton and others. Prices range from $7.98 for MP3s to $12.98 for FLAC recordings. Wolfgang's Vault holds an estimated 10,000 live concert recordings, some 3,200 of which are currently available for streaming on the site.

Orchard CEO Resigns; Company Lays Off 20% of Staff

New York - The Orchard (NASD: ORCD), a digital distributor of independent music and video content, announced on Wednesday that president and CEO Greg Scholl has resigned, and additionally that the company has laid off 20% of its staff as part of a cost-cutting initiative. Scholl will remain on through the end of October, at which time Danny Stein -- an Orchard board member and currently also chairman and CEO of eMusic -- will replace him as interim CEO.

CNN Releases $1.99 Interactive News App for iPhone

Atlanta - Time Warner's (NYSE: TWX) CNN on Tuesday released a new interactive news application for Apple's (NASD: AAPL) iPhone. The $1.99 application includes a live video stream, and "showcases news of the day through text, video and photos. It also features live breaking news video, push notification, localization and personalization tools, user-generated content capture and upload functionality through iReport."

Vodafone to Sell iPhone in U.K. Next Year

London - Wireless network operator Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) has reached a deal to begin selling Apple's (NASD: AAPL) iPhone in the U.K. in early 2010. Fellow U.K. operator Orange announced its own deal to sell the iPhone in the U.K. last week. The deals mean initial U.K. iPhone carrier partner O2's two-year exclusive has concluded.

National Archives Launches Online Holocaust Collection

Washington - The National Archives said on Tuesday that it has partnered with Utah-based Footnote.com to launch the largest online collection of Holocaust archives. The new Interactive Holocaust Collection, available at the link below, includes more than 1 million Holocaust-related records, including concentration camp registers, more than 26,000 photos and nearly 600 interactive personal accounts.
