Dear Readers - This just in! We are very pleased to announce that Craigslist's Founder Craig Newmark will be featured in a luncheon keynote interview at our Digital Media Conference West next week in San Francisco. Craig joins a stellar line-up of speakers from Hollywood to Silicon Valley, including fellow Bay Area whiz, Digg CEO and Co-Founder Jay Adelson.

In case you missed the Craigslist and Digg revolutions, here's the background on Craig and Jay. In 1995 while Craig was working at Schwab, he started craigslist as an email list for friends and co-workers about events going on in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 1999, Craig retired from IT consulting to work full-time on craigslist. What started as a fun side project in Craig's living room has since grown into one of the busiest sites on the internet, helping people with basic day-to-day needs such as finding a job, an apartment and a date, all within a culture of trust. Craig continues to embrace his inner nerd though he no longer wears thick black glasses that are held together with tape, and he retired the plastic pocket protector some years ago. Craig is involved with a variety of community efforts and is particularly interested in organizations promoting public diplomacy, mideast peace and new forms of media such as participatory journalism.

Jay Adelson is CEO of Digg, guiding all aspects of the company’s development, growth and management. Under his leadership, Digg has grown to nearly 40 million visitors per month, and is now considered one of the top socially focused Web sites. Adelson is also chairman of the board of Revision3, where he provides strategic direction to the company, a Web video studio that produces Diggnation, The GigaOm Show, and many others. Prior to Digg, Adelson founded Equinix, Inc (Nasdaq: EQIX), a leader in the data center and Internet infrastructure space. A well-recognized expert on technology and the Internet, Adelson has testified before Congress and advised the government and other groups with his knowledge of the Internet's workings. His passions are dis-intermediation and toppling ancient and corrupt monopolies. In May 2008, Adelson was recognized in Time Magazine’s Time 100 – The Most Influential People in the World.

There are only a limited number of tickets left for this event so booking now is a must at www.digitalmediaconference.com/west. See you in SF!
