TimeWarner to Block Jon Miller’s Appointment to Yahoo Board

San Jose - While the Yahoo shareholders’ meeting was in progress, TechCrunch reported that Time Warner will block the possible appointment of former AOL Chairman Jon Miller to the Yahoo board.

According to the sources cited by TechCrunch, including a former AOL executive close to Miller, without Time Warner’s approval, Miller cannot serve on Yahoo’s board since he is under a non-compete agreement with AOL.

The decision is a blow to the efforts by Yang and others at Yahoo to bring several qualified outsiders to the board after reaching an agreement with activist investor Carl Icahn to open up three board seats. It also comes at an odd time with reports circulating that Time Warner is in discussions with Yahoo over a possible sale of AOL to Yahoo.

TechCrunch quoted one source as saying, when Jerry Yang found out about this he was “fucking livid.”
