San Francisco -- OpenTV, a provider of interactive TV software and services, announced on Monday that it has sold the assets of its online education business, eSchool Online, to Classroom Connect, a unit of educational publisher Harcourt. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The eSchool Online unit, which provides large urban school districts, state education departments and major educational publishers with multimedia professional development content and K-12 curriculum courseware, is part of ACTV, which OpenTV purchased in Sept. 2002 for $92.3 million. "The eSchool Online sale continues our ongoing efforts to focus on our core business," said OpenTV CEO James Ackerman. "This is another positive step for improving our overall business, and helps us reduce the burn rate at ACTV as we said we would do when we acquired the business."
