Rochester, N.Y. -- In a sure sign that digital photography is eroding market share from its traditional film-based counterpart, photography equipment giant Eastman Kodak has announced that it will cease selling film-based cameras in the U.S., Canada and Western Europe by the end of the year. The company said it will still manufacture and sell film cameras in more lucrative emerging markets such as China, India, Eastern Europe and Latin America.
