IFC "First Take" to Offer Indie Films Simultaneously in Theaters, On-DemandAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on January 23, 2006 - 2:44am.
New York - IFC Entertainment, a producer and distributor of independent films, on Monday announced plans to launch a new service that will simultaneously offer critically acclaimed independent films from the festival circuit both theatrically and on-demand. Launching in March, IFC First Take plans this year to offer at least 24 films "day and date" in theaters and on its IFC cable TV channel's video-on-demand service. "We are doing more here than simply collapsing windows, IFC's First Take will serve the independent community by creating an electronic national art house for independent films," said IFC Entertainment president Jonathan Sehring. The initial slate of features to be distributed by IFC First Take includes "CSA: The Confederate States of America," "I Am a Sex Addict," "Three Times," "American Gun" and "Sorry, Haters."
