New York - Heavy.com, a broadband entertainment website that claims 10 million unique monthly viewers, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $10 million in a new round of financing, led by Polaris Venture Partners. Founded in 1999, New York-based Heavy.com offers original online entertainment programs like "Behind the Music that Sucks" and "Pimp My Weapon," in addition to short-form video, animation and machinima. In coming months, the company plans to launch a broadband community called MyHeavy.com, as well as a network based on its "Teriyaki Strips" channel. Heavy.com will use the funds to accelerate the roll-out of original programming for online and mobile consumption.
