Airgo Networks Chip to Power Video-Over-Wi-Fi Set-top Box
Cologne, Germany - Airgo Networks, a manufacturer of Wi-Fi chips, announced that it has partnered with Chinese set-top box maker Caton and fellow chipmaker STMicroelectronics to develop set-tops that can deliver video over a Wi-Fi home network. In addition to IPTV throughout the home, the devices will be able to record TV programs and also play digital music files and display photos. Caton plans to introduce its V20 Wireless Home Media Network for satellite TV operators in coming months, with a separate release for cable and IPTV providers expected in early 2007.
