Tokyo - Sony has delayed the release of its first next-generation Blu-ray Disc player from later this month until mid-August, according to a note on its Sony Style site. The $1,000 player was initially slated to ship in June, but that date was postponed until late July. Consumer electronics firm Pioneer has also postponed the release of its first Blu-ray player, citing interoperability issues. The company's $1,500 BDP-HD1 will now launch in September. Samsung still plans to launch its first Blu-ray player on June 25.
