Hosted Application Service KickApps Raises $6 Million in First Round

New York - KickApps, a provider of a hosted application service for entertainment, lifestyle, sports, health and education content websites, announced on Thursday that it has raised $6 million in its first round of funding, from Spark Capital and Prism Venture Partners. Founded by Eric Alterman, whose previous ventures including MeshNetworks and Skycross, the company says it will compete in the same space as user-generated video and social networking. New York-based KickApps said a beta version of its platform will be available next month.
