Helsinki, Finland - Sulake Corporation, operator of the Habbo Hotel online community for teenagers, announced on Monday that it has received a $7.6 million equity investment from Movida Group, a joint venture between Japan's Softbank and interactive entertainment firm Asian Groove. Founded in 2000, Finland-based Sulake said there are now localized Habbo Hotels in 18 countries. The sites claim nearly 7 million unique visitors each month, who have created over 53 million Habbo characters. The company plans to extend the Habbo brand into mobile games and content, and merchandising and licensing products.
