Report: Half of Video Cell Phone Service Subscribers Don't Use VideoAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on July 11, 2006 - 3:40pm.
Menlo Park, Calif. - Half of those who subscribe to video cell phone services -- as well as 30% of video iPod owners -- never use the devices for viewing video, according to a report from market research firm Knowledge Networks. The firm projects that the proportion of video iPod or video cell phone owners who actually watch video on the devices is just 3% of the 13-54 year-old broadband population. By contrast, nearly 17% of the same group reported using laptops to view downloaded or streaming video. Among laptop video users, 23% said they have paid for video downloads, while around 88% said they world watch a commercial in exchange for free downloadable or streaming video.
