Waltham, Mass. - Online entertainment portal Lycos announced on Wednesday that it has sold its Wired News technology news site to Conde Nast Publications -- which also owns WIRED magazine -- for $25 million. The deal brings the sister publications back under the same ownership after eight years of separation. Massachusetts-based Lycos acquired San Francisco-based Wired News in 1999 as part of its acquisition of Wired Digital. Lycos will retain ownership of the Hotbot, Hotwired and Webmonkey properties. Wired News will now be operated as part of Conde Nast Publication's CondeNet Web division.
