Marina del Rey, Calif. - CinemaNow, an Internet movie download service that raised $20 million in new financing last week, on Wednesday announced the launch of a beta test of a new feature that allows users to burn downloaded movies to DVD. Rival movie download service Movielink, which is backed by the major studios, announced plans to launch a similar service earlier this week. More than 100 titles will initially be available for burning on CinenaNow, from providers including Buena Vista Home Entertainment, Lionsgate, MGM, Sony Pictures, Universal Studios, EagleVision and Sundance Channel. DVDs burned through the service will include the full graphic menus, 5.1 surround sound, special features, language and commentary tracks found on commercial DVDs. The burnable downloads will start at $8.99, and will also include a printable DVD label and cover art. Marina del Rey, Calif.-based CinemaNow said that Germany-based ACE's fluxDVD technology will power the burn-to-DVD feature.
