Media Firms Create PSAs to Educate Parents on Kids' TV ViewingAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on July 25, 2006 - 1:32pm.
Washington - The Advertising Council, a non-profit that develops public service announcement campaigns, on Tuesday announced the launch of a national campaign that calls on parents to take a more active role in their children's TV viewing habits. Partners including the Motion Picture Association of America, National Cable & Telecommunications Association, National Association of Broadcasters and Consumer Electronics Association donated $300 million in advertising time and space to air the PSAs over the next 18 months. The ads will direct parents to a website, TheTVBoss.org, which instructs them on how to use the V-chip and cable and satellite TV blocking mechanisms; informs on program ratings; and gives advice on talking to children about what they're watching.
