GarageBand.com Lands $2.5 Million to Launch "iLike" Service

San Francisco - GarageBand.com, a San Francisco-based independent music community, said on Wednesday that it has raised $2.5 million in its first round of funding, led by Khosla Ventures and partner David Weiden. Other investors included Bob Pittman, the co-founder of MTV and former head of AOL; Herbert Allen III of Allen & Company and other individuals from the music, Internet, and media industries. Launched in 1999, GarageBand.com is now preparing to launch its social networking site, "iLike." The company said that the new service will help users organize their music, share their music tastes and discover new music through friends.
