Las Vegas - The Associated Press on Monday reported on the relationship between the World Series of Poker, a real-world card game tournament, and the online gambling sites that have recently drawn the ire of the U.S. Justice Dept. It is estimated that about half of the 8,700 players at the event in Las Vegas qualified in tournaments for cash at sites like PokerStars.com, PartyPoker.com and Bodog.com -- which the government says are illegal. Since the Justice Dept. arrested the CEO of an online sportsbook site several weeks ago as he was traveling in the U.S., Bodog.com founder Calvin Ayre has stayed put in his native Canada. "I don't believe any senior executive of any online gaming company is going to be going into the United States for the foreseeable future," Ayre told AP. "It's not just me, and I've talked to a lot of them."
