London - Mobile Streams, a distributor of mobile music and media for cell phones, announced on Monday that it has acquired The Nickels Group, a Manhattan Beach, Calif.-based licensor and distributor of urban music. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. London-based Mobile Streams and The Nickels Group have previously partnered to distribute mobile content like music and reality series for artists including Paul Wall's G.R.I.T. Boys, Tego Calderon and Voltio. Nickels Group co-founders Jonas Hudson and Daryl Young will join Mobile Streams as senior vice presidents. Mobile Streams said the deal will provide control over original intellectual property, as well as a U.S. presence on the West Coast to enhance business development potential.
