Indianapolis, Ind. - Sony Online Entertainment (SOE), the company's online games unit that operates massively multiplayer titles like "EverQuest" and "PlanetSide," announced on Thursday that it has acquired key assets of World Apart Productions, a developer of online trading card games. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Key World Apart employees will form the core of Sony Online's new studio in Denver, where World Apart is based. World Apart's CTP (Collect Trade Play) Platform can be used to develop online collectible object-based games, such as the company's "Star Chamber." Sony Online said the technology has the ability to integrate board or card games into existing SOE titles.
