New York - PixFusion, a provider of personalized branded video products and services, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $4.2 million in its first round of venture capital financing, led by Mercury Capital Partners with participation from Stonehenge Capital Company. Founded in 2001, New York-based PixFusion's Kideo service allows consumers to insert a picture of child or grandchild into an entertainment DVD that features animated characters like Dora the Explorer and Arthur -- from partners Nickelodeon and WGBH Educational Foundation, respectively. The company will use the funds to aggressively acquire additional character licenses and expand marketing efforts.
