Reston, Va. - Cinea, a unit of Dolby that develops anti-piracy technologies for the movie and TV industries, on Wednesday introduced a new forensic watermarking application intended for use with consumer video devices. The Running Marks application enables the labeling and tracking of video content played back on most consumer video devices, including set-top boxes, portable media players, PCs and mobile phones. Widevine Technologies said it will deploy the watermarking technology to all 1.5 million users of its IPTV set-top boxes later this year.
