The new entry-level HD-A2, which will sell for $499 upon its release in October, will output HD DVD content through the HDMI interface in 720p or 1080i, while the high-end HD-XA2 will output at 720p, 1080i, or 1920 x 1080p -- the highest HD signal currently available. The HD-XA2 is slated for release in December and will retail for $999.
