AOL in Deal to Provide Video Content to Intel Viiv-based PCsAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on September 18, 2006 - 1:23pm.
Dulles, Va. - AOL said on Monday that it partnered with chipmaker Intel to launch the AOL Video service for Intel Viiv-based PCs, allowing AOL's library of movies, TV shows, music videos and other content to stream from Viiv PCs to a television. PCs featuring Intel Viiv technology will also have access to AOL Radio, AOL Pictures and AOL Music Now. Separately, AOL announced the launch of a program that will provide outside developers and video content owners with open access to its video search engine. The move will allow developers to build video search-driven applications that access AOL's index of videos from across the web. Video content owners also will be able to submit feeds to AOL's index.
