Burbank, Calif. - French electronics firm Thomson announced on Monday that its Burbank, Calif.-based Technicolor Digital Cinema unit has installed digital projection systems in several Mann Theatres locations in Los Angeles, as part of its North America beta test of digital cinema equipment. The test includes projectors at Grauman's Chinese Theatre and Mann Chinese 6 in Hollywood, as well as the Village, Bruin, Criterion 6 and Marketplace 4 theaters. Thomson aims to install digital projection systems in up to 5,000 screens over the next 3-4 years, and at least 15,000 screens in the U.S. and Canada over the next 10 years.
