Yahoo Seeks User-Generated Videos for Online Talent ShowAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on October 23, 2006 - 1:41pm.
Santa Monica, Calif. - Hoping to generate traffic to its own video-sharing destination in the wake of rival Google's acquisition of YouTube, Yahoo on Monday announced the launch of an eight-week, $50,000 online video contest that will seek "the hottest original talent on the Internet."
The Yahoo Talent Show, produced in collaboration with Embassy Row, is seeking users' original video clips, which may be submitted through the Nov. 27 contest deadline. Voting by users will take place from Nov. 13 through Dec. 4. The site will also feature a daily show hosted by TV personality Mayleen Ramey that will highlight a selection of the most interesting new submissions.
