Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) announced yesterday that Kim Hatamiya has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Marketing. Based at SPTI's headquarters in Culver City, California, Hatamiya heads marketing for the division of Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) that oversees all television and on-demand businesses outside the United States. Hatamiya reports to Michael Grindon, SPTI's president, who made the announcement. She joined SPTI in April 2003 as Senior Vice President, Marketing. www.sonypictures.com/tv/index.html MTV Networks (MTVN), a division of Viacom, yesterday announced that Marva Smalls has been named the company's first Executive Vice President of Global Inclusion Strategy. She will report to Judy McGrath, Chairman and CEO, MTVN, and will become a member of the company's senior strategy team. Smalls also will retain her current responsibilities as Executive Vice President of Public Affairs and Chief of Staff for the Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids & Family Group, where she reports to Cyma Zarghami, President of Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids & Family Group. MTVN also announced that it is restructuring its day-to-day approach to diversity leadership, with the introduction of a new internal advisory team. Working closely with Smalls and the MTVN Diversity Council, the advisory team will help set priorities, develop strategies and implement policies that advance MTVN's core values throughout the organization. As a result of the restructuring, the position of Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) has been eliminated and CDO Billy Dexter will be leaving the company. www.mtv.com Voxant, creator of the Viral Syndication Network for online news, yesterday announced that Becky Beeler has joined the company as Vice President of Finance. A veteran of IBM, Engenia Software and the National Institutes of Standards and Technology, Beeler has more than 24 years of experience in finance, operations, marketing and engineering in the technology sector. At Voxant, she rejoins CEO Jeff Crigler, who also was founder and CEO of Engenia and a colleague at IBM. www.voxant.com John Jeffry Louis, Chairman and Co-Founder of Parson Capital Corporation, has been elected to the Board of Directors of Gannett, effective Oct. 23, 2006, the company announced yesterday. In addition to Parson Capital, Louis has served as Co-Founder, Vice Chairman and Director of Frye-Louis Capital Management and Co-Founder and Director of Schirf Brewing Company. He currently is a director of S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc.; the Johnson Financial Group; The City Bakery LLC; and Eximious, Inc. With Louis’ election, Gannett’s Board has eight members. www.gannett.com The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) yesterday announced the newly elected members of their Board of Industry Leaders. Pat Lavelle, President and CEO of Audiovox, will chair the Executive Board for a one-year term starting in January 2007. CEA's board now includes executives from Best Buy, Radio Shack and Circuit City as well Sony Pictures, Sling Media, and eBay. Lavelle will assume leadership of the board from Loyd Ivey, founder and CEO of Mitek Corp., who will continue to serve the board as Immediate Past Chair. New Executive Board members include Noel Lee, "head monster," Monster Cable; Phillip Schoonover, President and CEO, Circuit City; Blair Westlake, Corporate Vice President of the Media, Content & Partner Strategy Group, Microsoft and DJ Oh, President and CEO, Samsung Electronics. Returning members include John Shalam, Chairman, Audiovox, Kathy Gornik, President, Thiel Audio; Jay McLellan, President and CEO, Home Automation, Inc.; Gary Yacoubian, President and COO, MyerEmco Audio Video and Grant Russell, President, Green Clean USA. www.ce.org Turner Entertainment Group, a unit of Time Warner, announced yesterday that it has appointed Steve Koonin to the newly created position of President of Turner Entertainment Networks to oversee its four entertainment cable networks.
