San Jose, Calif. - Video game publisher Electronic Arts has redesigned its online game download service, the Associated Press reported. The old EA Downloader service will be replaced by EA Link, which will initially offer a selection of 16 PC games for download, with new PC titles from EA to be added day and date with their release on disc in retail stores.

The service will allow users to link their PayPal accounts for direct payments to Electronic Arts. In addition to full games, EA Link also features downloadable game demos, trailers and wallpapers.

EA Online vice president Chip Lange told AP that digital distribution "is an increasing priority for us at EA and it's a further step in EA's commitment to have a one-on-one relationship with our customers…The business has gone beyond a static model of 'I've bought the game and I'm done.' This keeps the games dynamic."
