San Francisco - BrightRoll, a video ad network formerly called PostRoller, announced on Friday that it has raised an undisclosed sum in its first round of venture capital, and officially opened its network to the public. Participating in the investment round were True Ventures and nine angel investors, including Jon Callaghan, Jeff Clavier and Fabrice Grinda.

San Francisco-based BrightRoll's service allows small and mid-size publishers to incorporate video advertising through pre-roll branded video ads and post-roll video, banner and text ads. The company will use the funds to expand its video ad network and to further develop its proprietary ad serving, targeting and optimization technologies.
