Beverly, Mass. - Vivace Semiconductor, a developer of semiconductors for video processing, has raised $7.5 million in its first round of venture capital, led by Kodiak Venture Partners and including participation by Shanghai-based Dragonvest Partners.

The new funds are being used by Vivace to acquire General Circuits (GCI), a China-based producer of video electronics for consumers. Vivace said that the acquisition of GCI immediately adds a team of 45 engineers to its design and development programs.
