Chicago - Apple announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with Air France, Continental, Delta, Emirates, KLM and United Airlines to allow passengers to plug their iPods into in-flight entertainment services, allowing for charging of the devices and viewing of iPod videos on seat-back displays.

The connection will also allow passengers listen to music on some airlines' noise-cancellation headsets. The in-flight iPod connectivity features will be available to air passengers beginning in mid-2007. "There is significant value in offering a superior in-flight entertainment experience to our first and business class customers during their international flights," said Graham Atkinson, United's executive vice president and chief customer officer.

"We are identifying what matters most to our premium customers and then delivering the right products and services -- like the iPod connectivity -- to meet those needs."
