Malmo, Sweden - Polar Rose, a developer of facial recognition and 3D modeling for visual search applications, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $5.1 million in its first round of venture capital financing, led by Nordic Venture Partners.Sweden-based Polar Rose has developed facial recognition technology, and is combining that technology with features that it says will allow users to sort and find online photos of friends, family or celebrities. The company plans to release the software in an open beta test in early 2007.
