New York - News syndication and wire service Reuters announced on Tuesday that it has made a $7 million investment and received an undisclosed stake in Pluck, an Austin-based provider of Web media syndication services. Pluck operates the BlogBurst syndication network, which provides supplemental content from over 2,800 blogs to newspapers and other news services including Reuters, The Washington Post and the Gannett newspaper chain. Pluck's SiteLife service also allows newspapers to add readers' photos and videos alongside stories on their websites.

"With Pluck, we will help our worldwide media partners offer their readers smart and fast access to the best in the blogosphere," said Reuters Media president Chris Ahearn. "This is part of Reuters continuing strategy to embrace new digital platforms, including user-generated and moderated content as well as community tools, to deliver next- generation news and information."
