TiVo Expands Lineup of Web Downloads to TV Set-tops

Alviso, Calif. - TiVo on Tuesday announced plans to expand its service that allows subscribers to download Internet video to their TiVo set-tops for viewing on television. The software upgrade allowing user-generated and other non-copyright protected videos to be downloaded to TiVo boxes will be offered by the end of the year.

TiVo also said it partnered with One True Media, to allow users to share their homemade movies with friends, sending copies directly to their TiVo boxes.

In other announcements on Tuesday, TiVo said it has signed a deal with CBS to expand the programming offered through its TiVoCast service, to include new original programming from CBS.com, CBSNews.com and CBS SportsLine.

Other new broadband content providers include Reuters, Forbes, dLife, Plum TV and Nano. TiVo also partnered with Hollywood talent agency ICM to provide TiVo subscribers with TV show and film recommendations from well-known actors and directors on its TiVo Celebrity Guru Guide.
