Redmond, Wash. - Microsoft announced on Wednesday that its Bungie Studios will offer a multiplayer public beta of its "Halo 3" title for Xbox 360 on the Xbox Live online game service in the spring of 2007.
The companies also plan to promote the game's release with a one-time airing of a 60-second "Halo 3" teaser ad on Dec. 4, during ESPN's "Monday Night Football." Bungie also plans to offer new multiplayer maps for "Halo 2" for Xbox 360 for download through the Xbox Live Marketplace in the spring. "Halo 2" racked up $125 million in sales in its first 24 hours on sale; the "Halo" franchise overall has so far sold more than 14.7 million units worldwide, equating to nearly $700 million in sales.
