Los Angeles - Ross Levinsohn, the president of Fox Interactive Media -- the division of News Corp. that in the past 18 months has acquired MySpace, IGN and other properties -- on Thursday announced his resignation from the company.

"So, as some of you may have read or heard, I'm leaving Fox," Levinsohn wrote, in a post on his MySpace page. "Where better to post than here. Stay tuned to what's next. It's been an awesome two years building Fox Interactive Media, and the company is in great shape for the future. There is a whole world out there to explore."

The executive credited with engineering Fox's $580 million MySpace acquisition will be replaced by his cousin, Peter Levinsohn, who was previously president of digital media at Fox Entertainment Group.
