Lake Forest, Calif. - Newport Media, a developer of mobile TV chips, announced on Monday that it has raised $30 million in its third round of venture capital financing, led by new investor DAG Ventures.

Previous investors Benchmark Capital, Global Catalyst Partners, Oak Investment Partners, Pinnacle Ventures and Venrock Associates also participated.

Lake Forest, Calif.-based Newport Media's system-on-a-chip mobile TV technology supports all major mobile TV standards. The company said the chip increases viewing time while also improving sensitivity, channel switching time and interference immunity.

The funds will be used to ramp volume production while expanding the company's product portfolio.
