John De Mol - TalpaThe Dutch Media Mogul John De Mol, who in 1994 founded the television production company Endemol, best known for the Big Brother format, wants to buy the company back from Spanish telecom giant Telefonica, to which he sold it a few years ago. He is also interested in an acquisition of Scandinavian Broadcasting System (SBS).

As a part of the deal, which would result in being one of Europe’s new media powerhouses, John De Mol’s new media company Talpa would partner up Mediasat, owned by Italy’s controversial former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi.

This is all according to the Danish newspaper Berlingske Business and Danish Public Radio. The official response from the companies: “no comment”.
