Redmond, Wash. - Nintendo announced that it sold more than 600,000 Wii video game consoles in the Americas in the product's first eight days on sale.
Including sales of Nintendo-developed game titles and accessories, the Wii has so far generated $190 million for the company in the region. Nintendo added that its "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" title for the Wii has sold more than 454,000 units in the Americas, representing more than 75% of all hardware purchasers. "We've shipped retailers several times the amount of hardware the other company was able to deliver for its launch around the same time -- and we still sold out," said Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime.
