Webby Awards, dotMobi Launch New Awards for Mobile Websites

New York - Organizers of The Webby Awards, which honor websites, interactive ads, online film and video, on Tuesday announced they have partnered with dotMobi to launch The Webby Mobile Awards, to recognize websites for mobile devices.

The awards will initially feature three categories: Listings & Updates, News & Entertainment, and Mobile Marketplace. Since the launch of the .mobi top level domain in September, dotMobi said that more than 275,000 .mobi domains have been registered.

"Some of the most exciting and innovative content being created today is for mobile devices," said David-Michel Davies, executive director of The Webby Awards. "We're proud to have such strong support from an industry group such as dotMobi in honoring the innovators who are setting the benchmarks for this emerging field."

The deadline for entries for the first Webby Mobile Awards is Dec. 15. Nominees will be announced in April, with winners to be honored at The 11th Annual Webby Awards in June.
