Report: Mobile Adult Content Market to Hit $3.3 Billion by 2011Authored by Mark Hefflinger on November 29, 2006 - 2:07pm.
Hampshire, England - The mobile adult entertainment content market is expected to grow from $1.4 billion in 2006 to over $3.3 billion by 2011, according to a report from U.K.-based Juniper Research.
Over the next five years, the market is forecast to generate $14.5 billion in revenues, with the European market accounting for 39% of revenues, followed by Asia Pacific (33%). "Adult content business models have succeeded in other major delivery media: print, cinema, DVD, PPV TV etc. There is no reason why the mobile channel should not be equally profitable for adult content industry players," said Juniper Research director Bruce Gibson. The growth of mobile video over the period will mean video-based services will account for over 70% of mobile adult content in 2011, the firm said. "I think the biggest opportunity is at the casual and "softer" end of the adult market -- lads in pubs sharing a video clip after a few pints and people looking for a bit of fun when they have spare time to kill etc -- not the hard core stuff," added Gibson.
