Houston - AT&T has expanded its Internet-based TV (IPTV) service U-verse into Houston, joining San Antonio as the second market of availability.

AT&T has said it plans to offer the service in up to 20 markets by the end of the year. The company also said earlier this week that it has added NBC Universal content to U-verse, which offers a selection of over 300 local, premium and digital music channels.

AT&T also plans to invest $620 million in the state of Michigan over the next three years to bring U-verse and other broadband services to customers.

Rival Verizon, meanwhile, has continued to expand its own IPTV service -- called FiOS TV -- into markets in California, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Texas, Florida and Virginia.
