Oakbrook Terrace, Ill. - Redbox, a maker of automated DVD rental kiosks, announced on Thursday that it has signed an agreement to install its machines in McDonald's restaurants, following a successful two-year test.
Redbox kiosks, which charge $1 per night per rental, are now featured in more than 800 McDonald's restaurants in six markets. Over the past year, the kiosks have generated more than 15 million rentals. Illinois-based Redbox said its kiosks will begin appearing at McDonald's restaurants in select new U.S. markets early next year.
